We started seeds this year, and a bunch are already downstairs under lamps, looking pretty good. The Greek, I think, has been key.

While browsing through our early digital pictures in search of the picture of me and Sekhmet at the Memphis Zoo (see below), I was reminded of what we actually did before we had kids, as it's hard to remember.


Well, we went to a monster truck rally in February, 2003:

Nerds Take Note: Lost Statue is Sekhmet

You read it here first (well, maybe not, but I came up with this independently). I have been way into Lost lately, and even started watching the first season again in my spare time. This gigantic statue was seen in last week's episode; it may or may not be the four-toed statue seen previously. Anyway, the figure is holding an ankh in each hand and has cat ears, and I say it's the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet.



Among other things, Sekhmet was the Eye of Ra, sent by the god Ra to destroy humankind. Her plan was thwarted when she got drunk off a bunch of beer dyed red to look like blood. She then became Hathor, the most important goddess in the pantheon and incidentally the Egyptian goddess of alcohol.

I'm not sure what it all means ... am I only person out there who watches Lost anymore?

The love

The love sometimes seems genuine, sometimes not really, but at least Lilah is interested and trying.

Sometimes she goes a little overboard.

Still, smiles are now coming regularly, and, before long, Aviva will be able to defend herself, or at least return the hugs.

Is February over yet?

Grammy's visit was marked by a trip to the Children's Museum, where cat faces were drawn on in the weird light.


Otherwise, we've been hanging out, trying to get out of the house at least once a day so as to not go stir crazy. Aviva's has endured trips to Rural King and Big Lots among other notable Evansville shopping options, a birthday party, several walks around the YMCA indoor track, a thwarted attempt to spend time in the office (we had to leave due to electrical fire) and more.

What's to report? Aviva likes the sling and bouncy seat and still bears the stump. Lilah helps change dipes but is otherwise fairly squirrely (although the recipient of many generous presents). I'm eating too many Twizzlers, and Ariel and Pretty Pony are ready for Mardi Gras. Note Cinderella being carried off by an elephant in the background.
